We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Business Manager, CoS CCO.

Role purpose

The Digital Banking Services (DBS) Chief Control Office (CCO) plays an important role in enabling the bank to operate within its risk appetite, by ensuring efficient and effective risk and control management.

The Senior Business Manager reports to and will directly support the CCO CoS in the execution of the following duties on behalf of the DBS CCO function:

Active management and control of costs, including monthly Actuals, Forecast and Finance Resource Plan (FRP) submissions to Finance.
Active management and control of headcount forecasts, hiring and organisational design for the function.
Support the DBS CCO in all matters pertaining to Cost Management and Headcount for the CCO function globally.
Leading and/or supporting the delivery of ad hoc projects to improve quality of strategic planning, MI, accountability, and governance.
Liaise with stakeholders across DCOO to proactively identify, investigate and resolve challenges to the delivery of CCO goals.
Execute all strategic and people initiatives.

The Senior Business Manager is responsible for:

Driving the execution of business initiatives and change activities in support of the CCO strategy, which may include organisational design, technology, people / culture initiatives, and compliance and regulatory requirements.
Providing business management support including headcount, setting monthly cadence for planning, forecasts and reporting.
Providing operational management support for the execution of the DCOO strategy and liaison between the DCOO senior leadership team, multi departmental functions and key stakeholders globally.
Developing and embedding people strategies to increase capabilities and skills across CCO team. Execute talent and succession planning strategies.

What you'll do:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Business Management

Cost Management:

Have an excellent understanding of DBS CCO cost base, actively managing within defined Targets.
Working in close collaboration with DBS CCO executive team, ensure a clear understanding of Actual, Forecast and Plan costs.

Headcount

Actively manage the monthly headcount planning process and manage plans accordingly.
Responsible for reviewing CCO hiring on a weekly basis and ensuring relevant approvals are in place before hiring can commence. Tracking of hiring within sub-CCO teams

Execution:

Prepare management reports, presentations and papers to provide periodic updates for DBS CCO as required.
Manage CCO commitments across all group level governance forums, including writing and reviewing papers for steering committees, risk forums and executive committees.

Governance & Documentation:

Ensure alignment to the governance team is developed, implemented and managed along with robust documentation and briefings.
Prepare monthly Copco deck and content.

FRP - Forecasting & Planning/ Actual Review & reconciliation:

Ensure DBS CCO is within FRP target.

Maintain a list of all open and existing roles and assess impact on FRP.
Track consultancies spend. Track training spend.
Work with Finance partner to ensure cyclical forecasts are updated.
Work with Finance partner to understand the TM1 driller file for actuals every month and ensure any discrepancies are resolved.
Ensure CCO employees are mapped to the right cost centres.
Work with Finance partner as needed to create new cost centres, as needed.

People Agenda

Track office attendance in each location and ensure the minimum required attendance is adhered to.
Assess of capabilities and identify skill gaps, work with HR to enhance skills and close gaps.
Build succession plans and talent pool. Ensure trainings are arranged and shared.
Support DBS CCO with YE HR processes.
Ensure diversity and inclusion targets are met and take action to create the diverse hiring processes.

Score Cards & DCOO Metrics:

Work with DBS CCO Team to ensure DBS CCO scorecard is up to date and timely updates are submitted to DCOO COS.

Travel Approvals/Office Exception List:

Responsible for ensuring the CCOO travel expenses are in line with forecasts and required approvals are in place for Domestic and international travel.

Ad Hoc Requests from DCOO COS & CCO COS

Support DCOO COS requests on any function-based updates out of regular reporting cycles
Support CCO COS on any ad-hoc requests regarding forecasting, hiring status updates etc outside of reporting cycles.

Customers and Stakeholders

External Stakeholders:

Provide analysis and support to external parties (e.g., regulators) as needed - either in response to queries/audits or briefing notes.

Internal Stakeholders:

Engage with stakeholders across DCOO to support delivery of DCOO objectives, ensure all regulatory and legal commitments are met and provide proactive issue management.
Develop strong relationships with Global Businesses, Group Functions and Digital Business Services executive team to be able to support the delivery of the DCOO strategy.

Leadership & Teamwork

Lead by example, demonstrate core behaviour and values including professionalism, teamwork, focus, drive and determination.
Ensure effective and open communication across DCOO service pillars.
Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
Contribute to the implementation of the DCOO strategy.
Leverage services provided by DCOO service pillars to effectively deliver responsibilities.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

Ensure appropriate governance is implemented along with robust documentation and supporting management controls.
Conducting Business Continuity Planning checks, Capability/Skill Assessment and Succession planning.
Undertaking Change projects (Architecture, Escalation Tooling, Order Book), RACI and Service Catalogue, Trainings for talent and all CCO teams and ensuring timely submissions of requests from DCOO, for governance forums and data requests and providing updates on all strategic change projects.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Knowledge & Experience

Educated to graduate degree level in business management and/or strategy related field or associated relevant business experience.
Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to succeed within a matrix management structure and build and maintain regional team relationships.
Ability to engage with team, colleagues, and business partners collaboratively to deliver at pace.
Ability to work well under pressure, demonstrate flexibility and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and tasks that are potentially highly restricted in nature, unpredictable, wide ranging, complex and time sensitive.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills required in English.
Excellent stakeholder management, relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills.
Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in simple language to support problem analysis.
Proven experience in financial budgeting, strategic planning, communication, and people management processes. Anaplan experience would also be ideal.
Strong understanding of the HSBC Group and its strategy, structures and processes
Strong knowledge of Digital Business Services or similar functions in other organisations - functionally, operationally, and financially
Proven project management experience with an ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Previous background of working in a matrix organization structure ability to persuade individuals at different levels.
Experience of working in management consulting is advantageous.
